The Petzl TacTikka Plus is a tactical version of the popular Tikka Plus Headlamp. It has all of the great features including 4 LEDs instead of 3, a push on/off button instead of a slider switch, a tiltable housing, and 3 brightness settings with strobe function. These features have been combined with a red lens that easily flips down over the LED's for night vision. It is also water-resistant for all-weather use. The 150-hour burn time and durability of the LED makes the TacTikka Plus reliable. It doesn't throw out huge candlepower (33ft or 10m), making it ideal for activities requiring close-up lighting like trail hiking, setting up camp, and reading. Petzl's MYO line of headlamps are designed to offer a combination of long-range and proximity lighting. The Myolite 3 achieves this via a "hybrid" system consisting of three LEDs and a Xenon halogen.
The first thing to note about this headlamp is that it is designed to be bright, and would be ideal for applications such as night jogging or search-and-rescue where the idea is to see and be seen.
